Marvel Trading Card Game Introduces New Vs. System Game Engine and
Multi-Million Dollar Pro Tour Tournament
The streets are safe again as fans of the classic Marvel Comics series X-Men,
Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, and Dr. Doom re-enact
unforgettable comic book battles with the new Marvel Trading Card Game (TCG)
from Upper Deck Entertainment, a division of the Upper Deck Company. The
Marvel TCG is now available in participating hobby shops nationwide. The trading
card game will be available in participating retail outlets in June 2004.
The Marvel TCG allows players to create their ultimate superhero team
combinations from the Marvel universe, as they battle against each other. The
trading card game debuts Upper Deck Entertainments new VS. System game engine,
which features strategic game play and deck construction fully integrated with
tactical combat interaction in the playing arena.
In addition, the Marvel TCG will also feature a million-dollar Pro Tour
tournament series and an extensive international tournament system beginning
this summer. Additional details of the Pro Tour tournament series will be
announced at a later date.
The Marvel TCG was designed specifically to support multiplayer play,
complimenting the traditional one-on-one competition format. The game was
carefully balanced to support sealed-pack and booster draft formats. Development
of the game included testing by top professional TCG players around the world to
ensure the game is carefully balanced for high-level competition, as well as
casual play.
Each starter set will include two decks and everything that players will need to
begin playing the game. Additional 14-card booster packs will increase the

Upper Deck Entertainment will utilize Marvel's classic character library to
create a special line of trading cards games that showcases the legendary
characters in skillfully drawn renderings. The goal is to provide enjoyable game
play and a high level of collectability. Each card will feature original artwork
by one of the biggest names in the industry, including award-winning
illustrators Andy and Adam Kubert , highly-popular comic artist Chris Bachalo,
Gaijin Studios creator Brian Stelfreeze, highly-acclaimed Steve Rude and many
more.
