Fleer Leads off MLB Season with Plenty of Promotions

As opening day begins another exciting Major League Baseball season, Fleer Trading Cards has partnered with various MLB teams for some special events and promotions throughout 2004.

Fleer’s hometown Philadelphia Phillies are moving into a new ballpark this season and Fleer has partnered with the Phillies for a comprehensive team marketing deal. Fleer will have plenty of signage at the new Citizens Bank Park as the starting line-up for each game will be displayed on large Fleer Baseball Cards behind the scoreboard. The cards will be based off the Fleer Ultra design and will feature the starting nine for each game. Fleer also has signage behind homeplate during every home game for the fifth inning.

Fleer also has a sponsorship deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. There will be three Fleer promotional nights at Dodger Stadium during the 2004 season. The dates include April 11, May 30 and July 10. On each of these nights a special cello pack containing 7 Dodgers player cards will be given to each fan attending that game. The three different nights feature 7 different players, which in total make up a 21-card set. To complete the 21-card set fans and collectors need to attend all three promotional nights. There is also a cover card with a checklist and dates included in each pack.

"We feel it is very important to be directly involved with the teams and their fans to help drive the popularity of trading cards," said Fleer spokesman Joshua Perlman. "Team deals, stadium promotions and newspaper insertions like those we are doing are a great way to introduce new baseball fans to the hobby, along with creating excitement for current collectors."

Each team deal includes media support in local team print, television and radio. Fleer also has received ticket packages and club suite access to various games throughout the season where Fleer will reward customers for supporting Fleer and the hobby as a whole.
