Pacific Increases Presence at Toronto Spring Expo
Pacific Trading Cards has announced it will increase its presence at the 2004
Sports Card and Memorabilia Expo in Toronto later this month. The three-day
show, which runs April 30-May 2 at the International Centre on Airport Road,
is expected to again draw between 15,000-20,000 collectors with the focus on
hockey.
Pacific has produced a special set of Toronto Spring Expo rookie cards
that includes Matt Stajan, Marc-Andre Fleury, Eric Staal, Dustin Brown,
Patrice Bergeron, Jordin Tootoo, Antoine Vermette and Nathan Horton. The set
is available as a redemption for any collector opening any Pacific hobby box
at the Pacific booth. There are 99 serial-numbered gold sets, which will
be given away for the first 99 boxes opened when the show begins, and
499 serial-numbered silver sets.
Pacific is also making a number of stamped one of one cards which will
also be given out randomly for boxes purchased. Details will be announced at
the show.
In addition to the redemption, Pacific is also going to hold Pacific
Nights Pack Wars promotions at their booth every two hours throughout the
weekend. While the focus of the Expo will be on Pacific's NHL products, the
company will also be promoting other lines of trading cards at the show. They
will be previewing their upcoming Pacific Prospects AHL hockey card set,
which releases in May, and there will also be a booth dedicated to the
newly resurrected WHA. Pacific autographed WHA cards of Bobby hull and
Andre Lacroix will be available at the show, as well as licensed merchandise
from other WHA licensees. Pacific will also be previewing its 2004 CFL
football cards, and their booth will be flanked by the Toronto Argonauts
booth and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats booth. Both of those CFL teams will have
players appearing for autographs throughout the weekend.
"This will be one of the best Spring Expo shows ever, and being the
only U.S.-based card company to come up for the show, we were happy to step
up our presence at the event," said Pacific VP of Marketing Jeffrey
Morris. "This is the ultimate show for hockey collectors, and fans and
collectors travel from all over North America and Europe to be there. The
passion and excitement of this year's NHL playoffs will add to the event,
especially in Toronto where the Leafs are coming off a big win against Ottawa
and will be in the thick of their series against the Flyers."
