Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Delivers More Value

Matsui RC Card Long-time Playoff Absolute Memorabilia collectors will quickly discern a key difference between the new 2004 edition - which releases June 16 - and the three that have come before.

Missing are the popular box-toppers such as autographed baseballs (2001), autographed framed memorabilia pieces (2002) and etched-glass memorabilia/autograph pieces (2003) that have accompanied the product since its baseball debut. What remains, still, is one of the industry's favorite products.

For 2004, company officials have re-engineered the product to include an autograph or game-used memorabilia card per pack, ensuring that Playoff Absolute Memorabilia remains true to its legacy as one of the industry's foremost memorabilia-rich products.

"With 2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia, we returned to our roots in a sense," said Donruss Playoff baseball brand manager Ben Ecklar. "Simply, we can provide more value by playing to our strength and putting as much as we possibly could into our core content. The memorabilia piece had a nice run, but we felt strongly that we could deliver more memorabilia and more value to the collector by doing what we do best: Concentrating on what's inside our packs."

2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Baseball is headlined by the stunning and popular Tools of the Trade insert, which this year features 18 collectible tiers. Of those, there are versions that include five and six pieces of game-used memorabilia, as well as four pieces of memorabilia and an autograph.

Other hit-making inserts include Absolutely Ink autograph cards featuring scarce memorabilia versions and Team Tandems, Team Trios and Team Quads, featuring up to four pieces of game-used memorabilia on one card.
