2004 Major League Soccer

Limited edition autographed and game-used jersey cards and teen superstar Freddy Adu's MLS rookie card lead the way!

2004 Upper Deck Major League Soccer: 90-card regular set, issued June 7, 2004. Five cards (plus one decoy card) are inserted per pack. Inserts include: "MLS Jersey" cards, inserted 1:12 packs or two per box; "MLS Dual Jersey" cards, numbered to 50; "MLS Signed Jersey" cards, numbered to 15; "MLS Autograph" cards, 1:144 packs, numbered to 20; "MLS Stars," inserted one per pack; and "Cup Challengers," inserted one per pack.

The Upper Deck Company is launching its latest soccer trading card release - 2004 Upper Deck MLS (Major League Soccer) - and this time around, the trading card industry leader has added game-worn soccer uniform and autographed cards to the mix! What's more, the Upper Deck set will feature the official rookie card of D.C United's 14-year-old phenom Freddy Adu, the youngest player in modern history to play for an American professional sports team. Adu will also be one of several players in the set who has his game-worn jersey utilized in a special series of uniform swatch cards.

"We are excited to partner with the market leader, Upper Deck, on the 2004 card set which will become an instant collectibles," said Stu Crystal, MLS vice president of Marketing and Consumer Products.

"Upper Deck is recognized for creating great products that sports enthusiasts from around the world can enjoy," added Kevin Bate, MLS Brand Manager for the Upper Deck Company. "This agreement represents a tremendous opportunity to reintroduce our products to millions of soccer fans throughout North America by featuring exciting players like Freddy Adu, Landon Donovan, Taylor Twellman and Carlos Ruiz."

Upper Deck's 2004 MLS trading card release hits stores in late June with a suggested retail price of $2.99 per pack. Additional descriptions for this product follow below:

Game-Used Memorabilia and Autographed Cards:

MLS Jersey Cards (inserted 1:12 packs, or two per box on average) - features game-worn jersey swatches from 19 elite members of MLS including Freddy Adu, Damani Ralph, DaMarcus Beasley, Ante Razov, Ben Olsen, John Spencer and Tony Meola.

MLS Dual Jersey Cards (numbered to 50 each) - features dual game-worn jersey swatches from nine of MLS's most talented duos including Freddy Adu/Damani Ralph, Preki/Tony Meola, Taylor Twellman/Pat Noonan and Landon Donovan/Brian Mullan.

MLS Autographed Jersey Cards (ten players, numbered to 15 each) - features autographs and game-worn jersey swatches from ten of the best of the best players MLS has to offer including Freddy Adu, Cobi Jones, Tony Meola, Carlos Ruiz, Eddie Pope and Landon Donovan.

MLS Autographed Cards (40 players, numbered to 20 each, inserted 1:144 packs) - Players include Ante Razov, D.J. Countess, Ben Olsen, Cory Gibbs, Kevin Hartman, Richard Mulrooney, Brian Mullan, Freddy Adu, Cobi Jones, Tony Meola, Carlos Ruiz, Eddie Pope and Landon Donovan.

Other Insert Cards:

MLS Stars (inserted 1:1 pack) - Some of the 28 featured players include Chris Armas, Mark Chung, Pat Noonan, Pat Onstad, Chris Klein, Cobi Jones, Freddy Adu, Brad Davis, Eddie Pope and Taylor Twellman.

Cup Challengers (inserted 1:1 pack) - Some of the 14 different superstars in this collection include Damani Ralph, Mark Chung, Carlos Ruiz, Jovan Kirovski, Preki, Freddy Adu and Brian Mullan.
