The Upper Deck Company Signs Basketball Sensation Dwight Howard to an Exclusive Deal

Second Year In A Row That Agreement Is Inked Before Draft With Top Pick

Keeping with its tradition of signing the #1 athletes in the world, Upper Deck has signed Dwight Howard, 2004 national high school player of the year, to a multi-year exclusive trading card agreement that includes packaging rights and autographs for NBA licensed trading card products. This is the second year in a row that the Upper Deck company has signed the #1 pick in the NBA Draft, and like the previous year, the deal was completed before the big event.

"Upper Deck is committed to bringing the best athletes in the world to our collectors," said Bob Andrews, Upper Deck President and COO. "Dwight Howard is a great addition to our list of spokespeople who represent the Upper Deck brand."

Dwight Howard was an early entry candidate for the 2004 NBA Draft. Winner of the 2004 Naismith Award, signifying the nation’s top high school player. Howard is a winner of the Morgan Wooten High School Player of the Year award, named McDonald’s National High School Player of the Year, selected Co-MVP of the 2004 McDonald’s High School All-America game. Additionally, Howard was earned a spot on the PARADE Magazine All-American Team and played in the EA Sports Roundball Classic.

"Upper Deck is a first rate company and It is a great honor to become the newest member of the elite Upper Deck team of athletes," commented Dwight Howard. "With Upper Deck, I can expect my basketball cards to be produced with quality and integrity in mind. They will also be the only company that collectors can look to for my first Orlando Magic game-used memorabilia cards."

Other Upper Deck Spokesman include: LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Ichiro, and Annika Sorenstam to name a few.

Howard is expected to make his debut this September in 2004-05 SP Game-Used Basketball and 2004-05 All-Star Lineup.
