The Upper Deck Company Signs Basketball Sensation Dwight Howard to an Exclusive Deal
Second Year In A Row That Agreement Is Inked Before Draft With Top Pick
Keeping with its tradition of signing the #1 athletes in the world, Upper Deck has signed
Dwight Howard, 2004 national high school player of the year, to a multi-year exclusive
trading card agreement that includes packaging rights and autographs for NBA licensed
trading card products. This is the second year in a row that the Upper Deck company has
signed the #1 pick in the NBA Draft, and like the previous year, the deal was completed
before the big event.
"Upper Deck is committed to bringing the best athletes in the world to our collectors,"
said Bob Andrews, Upper Deck President and COO. "Dwight Howard is a great addition to our
list of spokespeople who represent the Upper Deck brand."
Dwight Howard was an early entry candidate for the 2004 NBA Draft. Winner of the 2004 Naismith
Award, signifying the nation’s top high school player. Howard is a winner of the Morgan Wooten
High School Player of the Year award, named McDonald’s National High School Player of the Year,
selected Co-MVP of the 2004 McDonald’s High School All-America game. Additionally, Howard was
earned a spot on the PARADE Magazine All-American Team and played in the EA Sports Roundball
Classic.

the elite Upper Deck team of athletes," commented Dwight Howard. "With Upper Deck, I can
expect my basketball cards to be produced with quality and integrity in mind. They will also be
the only company that collectors can look to for my first Orlando Magic game-used memorabilia cards."
Other Upper Deck Spokesman include: LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett,
Ichiro, and Annika Sorenstam to name a few.
Howard is expected to make his debut this September in 2004-05 SP Game-Used Basketball and 2004-05
All-Star Lineup.
