It’s a SpongeBob™ Weekend - Driver Casey Mears Added to The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie™ Race Car Lineup
Action Performance Companies Inc., the leader in the design, promotion, marketing and distribution of
licensed motorsports merchandise, today announced a new addition to The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie™ NASCAR®
race program: Casey Mears, driver of the No. 41 Target Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
Mears will drive the No. 41 Target/SpongeBob SquarePants Dodge during the 500-mile NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race
at Lowe’s® Motor Speedway on Oct. 16, 2004. The car is adorned with the characters from the upcoming animated film,
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie™. Paramount Pictures and Nick Movies will release the film in theaters nationwide
on Nov. 19, 2004.
That same weekend at Lowe’s® Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson also will
debut a pair of SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Lowe’s® Chevrolet race cars during the SpongeBob Movie 300 NASCAR Busch
Series race, sponsored by Nickelodeon. Johnson’s No. 48 Lowe’s® Chevrolet will include a full image of SpongeBob
across the hood, while Busch’s No. 5 Lowe’s® Chevrolet will spotlight the character Patrick Star.
In addition to the Team Lowe’s® Racing vehicles, Action Performance will produce die-cast replicas of Mears’ No. 41
Target/SpongeBob SquarePants Dodge in several collector scales. The collectible will reflect the actual paint scheme
as seen on the full-size racing machine.
