NASCAR® Storms into Kansas - Several Drivers Slated to Appear at GoMotorsports.com’s Fourth Annual SpeedWeek

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Even Dorothy and her beloved Toto could not have imagined all of the action being packed into the fourth annual SpeedWeek, preceding the NASCAR race weekend at Kansas Speedway. Motorsport Marketing Inc. will host this year’s SpeedWeek at their GoMotorsports.com Retail Outlet in Grandview, Mo.

Several of NASCAR’s best drivers will be commemorating their trip to the American Midwest with special paint schemes depicting The Wizard of Oz. Drivers Jeff Gordon, Elliott Sadler, Brendan Gaughan and Scott Riggs each will field Wizard of Oz-themed race cars during the 400-mile NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race on Oct. 10, 2004. However, before they take the green flag, those drivers, as well as several other noteworthy NASCAR stars, will take some time out to visit with their fans during several meet-and-greet sessions at the GoMotorsports.com Retail Outlet, Kansas City’s premier racing collectibles store.

The action begins Wednesday, October 6 and runs through Friday, October 8. The following is the tentative schedule of events (please note that the current driver lineup and times are subject to change):

Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004:

5 p.m. – 7 p.m.: The Jeff Gordon Foundation Charity Auction
7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.: The Tony Stewart Foundation Charity Auction.
6 p.m. - 9 p.m.: Distribution of autograph line tickets and final drawing for Jeff Gordon autograph session (for children only).

Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004:

2 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Appearance by Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 8 Chance 2 Motorsports Chevolet and current NASCAR Busch Series points leader.
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Appearance by Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet and four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Appearance by Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s® Chevrolet.
6 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Appearance by Jamie McMurray, driver of the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge and 2003 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year.
6 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Appearance by Scott Riggs, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup rookie and driver of the No. 10 Valvoline Chevrolet.

Friday, Oct. 8, 2004:

6 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Appearance by Brendan Gaughan, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup rookie and driver of the No. 77 KODAK Racing Dodge.
6 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Appearance by Casey Mears, driver of the No. 41 Target Dodge.

All driver sessions will require a special ticket, which are limited in number. Tickets can be obtained beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 or by special media promotions.

Gordon will host an autograph session for 200 lucky children under the age of 14, who will be randomly selected via contests and giveaways. For more information regarding autograph tickets or to register your child for the Gordon autograph session, visit the GoMotorsports.com Web site or call 1-888-602-0011.

Adults will be able to get Gordon’s autograph by bidding on – and winning – items in The Jeff Gordon Foundation auction, which also takes place on Wednesday, October 6, beginning at 5 p.m. The auction will include rare memorabilia donated by Jeff Gordon as well as selections from Hendrick Motorsports.

Also on October 6, Tony Stewart fans also will be able to bid on collectibles and other unique pieces, such as used race car parts or uniforms. Stewart and Joe Gibbs Racing have graciously donated items for the Tony Stewart Foundation benefit auction. Bidding begins at 7:30 p.m.

All of the proceeds from the respective auctions will be donated directly to The Jeff Gordon Foundation or Tony Stewart Foundation.

Admission to and parking for SpeedWeek 2004 is free. Visitors will be able to register for great door-prize giveaways and see stock cars from the No. 38 M&M’S® Brand, No. 42 Texaco/Havoline and No. 77 KODAK racing teams.

In addition to the driver appearances, showcars and other attractions, fans also can purchase the latest die-cast collectibles and trackside apparel via the largest warehouse sale anywhere. GoMotorsports.com’s SpeedWeek 2004 is the must-see pre-race event in the Kansas City Metro area and should not be missed by any NASCAR fan!
