Barry Bonds is Back on Baseball Cards

The Topps Company has signed a deal to bring baseball star Barry Bonds back to baseball cards.

After a one-year baseball card hiatus, Bonds has inked a deal with the historic trading card maker to appear on its cards.

"It is very exciting for Topps, as well as fans and collectors, to bring Barry back to baseball cards," said Warren Friss, Topps Vice President. "Barry's trading cards have always been highly collectible and we are thrilled to have him in our 2005 lineup."

The deal also grants Topps exclusive rights within the MLB trading card category for autographed baseball cards, game-used memorabilia cards and Bonds' image use on packaging and advertising.

To coincide with the announcement, Topps will continue its string of 19 consecutive Bonds Topps issues by offering his 2004 card in conjunction with an exclusive hobby store promotion. Details will be announced shortly.

In addition, Bonds will have a base card in 2005 Bowman Heritage and will sign a limited number of original Bowman Chrome cards for the all-new 2005 Bowman Sterling. Both products ship this month.

Founded in 1938 as Topps Chewing Gum, Topps issued its first baseball cards in 1951 and is an international marketer of entertainment products, principally candy, collectible trading cards and sticker album collections. Topps Internet business includes Topps.com, eTopps.com, TheToppsVault.com and thePit.com.
