Original Six Features Most Popular He Shoots, He Scores Program Ever

In The Game, Inc., manufacturers of "In The Game" and the "Parkhurst" brands of hockey cards, is pleased to announce that the He Shoots, He Scores Program in 2003-04 Parkhurst Original Six was their most popular ever.

The He Shoots, He Scores Program has been included in most In The Game brands of cards starting with the 2000-01 Signature Series. Every pack of cards in these brands included a game-used used memorabilia card or a He Shoots, He Scores Decoy/Redemption card. The He Shoots, He Scores cards are extra thick and help deter pack searching. Each also has a point value, and once collectors accumulate enough points, they can redeem them for special game-used memorabilia cards.

These memorabilia cards are not available elsewhere in packs. They are unique, scarce, and are sequentially numbered to 20.

The response to the He Shoots, He Scores Program in all six Original Six brands (Montréal, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Boston and New York) was exceptionally strong from the start. In fact, for the first time ever, all 20 cards of each of the 30 player combos were distributed to collectors well in advance of the program's December 31, 2004 expiration date.

In response to the unprecedented demand, In The Game produced another 20 cards for each of the 30 cards in the checklist. To avoid compromising the integrity of the program, the player photos on the front of the cards were changed, but the player checklist remained the same.

Unbelievably, In The Game distributed the remainder of the second run of memorabilia cards upon the program's expiration date.

Given the fact collectors had to submit 400 points in order to receive one memorabilia card, and that a total of 1,200 memorabilia cards were returned to collectors, an astounding 480,000 points were sent to In The Game by collectors.

"To issue all 600 cards the first time around was very gratifying," said Dr. Brian Price, In The Game's President, "but to redeem all 600 cards in the second group has left me astonished. I can't say how pleased I am at the collector's response to the program."

"This is not only evidence of the success of the program, though, but also of the overall success of the Original Six brand. We are so impressed with the level of enthusiasm hockey-card collectors have demonstrated for the Original Six concept. I want to thank everyone who collected these cards. The product required a lot of work but it was worth it."

A special thank you should also go out to In The Game's Pat Dalziel. Pat was responsible for literally counting every one of the 480,000 redemption points submitted by collectors. Though she denies it, there is reason to believe her eyesight will never quite be the same again.

Each of the 30 different memorabilia cards in the Original Six He Shoots, He Scores Program featured two players along with a swatch of game-used memorabilia from each. The full 30-card checklist has been added at the bottom of this press release.

There is currently an active He Shoots, He Scores Program offered in the 2004-05 Heroes & Prospects brand. Another version of the He Shoots, He Scores Program will be available in the upcoming 2004-05 NHL Franchises brand. The first of three stages of that brand (the Canadian Edition) is scheduled for release on February 24.

In The Game, Inc. has produced Be A Player, In The Game and Parkhurst brands of hockey trading cards since 1998-99. The company issued six different hockey card products in 2003-04 and is planning several more releases in 2004-05. The initial Heroes & Prospects set was released in November 2004. In The Game NHL Franchises will be issued in three phases beginning with a Canadian Edition on February 24. The Ultimate Memorabilia 5th Edition is scheduled for release on May 5, 2005.
