Fleer Signs Hank Aaron to Trading Card Deal
All-Time Home Run King and Fleer Trading Cards Team Up
One of Major League Baseball's greatest players and their top home run hitter
of all time has signed a contract with Fleer Trading Cards. Effective immediately,
Fleer will manufacture Hank Aaron game-used memorabilia and autographed cards
for their trading card sets.
"As far as signings are concerned, they do not get any grander than the legendary
Hank Aaron," said Fleer spokesman Joshua Perlman. "It is an honor and privilege
to be associated with someone who has impacted the game of baseball like Mr. Aaron has
over the years."
Along with ranking as the all-time home run leader with 755 career knocks, Aaron also
compiled 3,371 career hits (third all-time), appeared in a record 24 MLB All-Star games,
and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. Adding to his greatness,
Aaron was the National League MVP in 1957 and was the first player ever to amass both
3,000 hits and 500 home runs in a career.
"The signing of Hank Aaron is another way Fleer has solidified our commitment to
card collectors and the hobby as a whole," said Perlman. "This significant deal
is the first of many exciting announcements Fleer has in-store for the upcoming baseball
season."
Fleer will include both autographs and game-worn memorabilia throughout Greats of the
Game and other Fleer baseball brands. Already the most comprehensive retired player baseball
brand in the hobby, the Greats set will become truly amazing with the addition of Aaron.
The first product to feature Hank Aaron will be 2005 Fleer Classic Clippings Baseball, which
releases this coming March. More details to come.
