MLB™ SHOWDOWN™ Announces 2005 Lineup

New edition of popular baseball trading card game allows fans to manage their favorite big league team.

Just in time for opening day, Seattle-based game leader Wizards of the Coast (NYSE: HAS) will debut the 2005 Base Set for its popular MLB™ SHOWDOWN™ collectible trading card game. The March 25 release of Base Set will be followed by Trading Deadline™, which will hit store shelves in July of 2005.

"MLB™ SHOWDOWN sports card game allows players to enjoy a true-to-baseball experience," said Debbie Nihart, MLB™ SHOWDOWN Brand Manager at Wizards of the Coast. "The game puts baseball fans in control of their favorite baseball heroes and challenges them to use their sports knowledge to compete, collect, and trade."

MLB™ SHOWDOWN fans will discover a meatier, better-than-before Base Set with all-exclusive photography and 348 total player cards. Available in 2-player starter sets (MSRP $9.99) and 11-card booster packs (MSRP $3.49), the MLB™ SHOWDOWN 2005 Base Set includes everything a rookie needs to get started - or a veteran wants to continue - playing the fun and exciting MLB™ SHOWDOWN trading card game, including current players with up-to-date statistics, new strategy cards and more.

July’s MLB™ SHOWDOWN Trading Deadline expansion features 11-card booster packs (MSRP $3.49) that bring in to play newly acquired MLB™ players plus promising rookies.

MLB™ SHOWDOWN is perfect for casual play with fellow mitt maniacs, as a fantastic collectors item for baseball enthusiasts of all ages, or for use in competitive play in a nationwide program of hobby-store hosted "clubhouse" tournaments and Wizards of the Coast-sponsored championship events.
