PSA World Series of Autograph Authentication
Test Your Skills, Win Cash!
How well do you know your autographs? The first-ever PSA World Series of Autograph Authentication
will be held at this summer's 26th annual National Sports Collectors Convention (http://natlconv.com).
The champion of the competition will earn a year of bragging rights and a $2,500 cash prize.
The computerized test of knowledge and skill about autographs will be held at the PSA booth during the
convention in Rosemont, Illinois, Wednesday - Sunday, July 27 - 31, 2005.
"This is a winner-take-all competition. The winner will receive $2,500 cash and the status as PSA's
2005 champion," said Joe Orlando, PSA President.
"Here's your chance to put your forgery detection skills to the test and compete against the best
collectors and dealers at the show. The test will consist of a combination of genuine and counterfeit
autographs of major names in sports, vintage and modern."
Each contestant will have 10 minutes to examine 30 autographs on a computer screen and determine their
authenticity by casting a "genuine" or "not genuine" vote. In the event of a tie,
there will be a tie-breaking round with ten additional autographs.
"To ensure fairness, please note that the test will not contain any facsimile, pre-printed or laser
printed signatures since the test will be administered entirely on a computer screen at The National,"
Orlando explained.
Every contestant will receive a T-shirt commemorating the PSA World Series of Autograph Authentication.
The competition is open to virtually anyone except current PSA employees. PSA does reserve the right to
deny entry in special circumstances. There is a $25 entry fee, and entrants must make a reservation to
enter the competition. Reservations now are being accepted by contacting Rachel Swetnam at PSA, (800) 325-1121
extension 310.
"I expect the reservation times will fill up very quickly. There will be only a limited number of time
slots available on a first-come, first served basis. Anyone who wants to enter the competition should promptly
make a reservation to avoid being shut out," advised Orlando.
Details about the competition are available online at www.PSAcard.com.
